For years, people with marble and stone benchtops had two options: keep resealing and hope for the best, or go with archaic film products that never really felt right.
A lot of the sealer market overpromised. The film options that did exist were often dated, overpriced, poorly serviced, and accepted mostly because there was simply wasn’t an alternative. We thought we could offer something better, something that actually works.
It was obvious to us that the category needed a shakeup. Customers were spending serious money and still ending up with the same problems: patchy service, inconsistent workmanship, and products that did not properly stop staining or etching and if they did the products themselves would start to etch and stain. There was a gap for a better answer, and we decided to build it.

Founders Chris and Matt came from the automotive PPF and eCommerce industry, two worlds where standards matter. Automotive paint protection film honed our skills in finish quality, clean installation, and attention to detail. eCommerce taught us customer experience, communication, consistency, and product design and development.
When we understood that our skillset would be an ‘easy’ pivot to the stone protection market that answer was simple. Use a same concept as car wrapping and apply it to stone benchtops. Polyurethane film itself is not new, having a product specific Polyurethane film and applying it properly to stone is and DURAFLEX was born.
Cars are not kitchens, so off-the-shelf automotive film was never the answer. The film had to be food safe, heat resistant, easy to clean and effectively invisible, no thicker than a sheet of paper, with no lifting, bubbling or yellowing. Bootstrapped and self-funded, we spent the next stretch in development, testing and certification, building a stone-specific film and the process to install it.
One question remained: who could install it to a standard worth warranting? Even skilled trades would need years to match the finish quality we carried over from automotive work, so we made a deliberate choice. DURAFLEX would be fitted only by automotive-trained paint protection specialists. That is the point most people miss: DURAFLEX did not just enter the marble protection category in Australia, it created it.
Instead of using off-the-shelf film and hoping it would do the job, DURAFLEX was built specifically for marble protection, stone benchtop protection, splashback protection, and other fine interior surfaces. Better by design, more accurate finishes for benchtops, better in performance, and backed by CSIRO fire testing to AS/NZS 1530.3 and made with engineered materials.
DURAFLEX in action
Real installation: the DURAFLEX Black Rock project.
DURAFLEX is a surface protection film: a thin, optically clear polyurethane film applied over marble and natural stone so that everyday life meets the film, not the stone. It is not a sealer and it is not a coating. A sealer slows how fast liquids soak in, but it cannot stop acid etching, the dull marks that wine, lemon and vinegar leave on polished stone. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier that stops both staining and etching.
That is why the complete answer is both: seal the stone to prepare it, then protect it with DURAFLEX film. The film is no thicker than a sheet of paper and sits invisibly over the surface. It comes in two forms, DURAFLEX SPF Ultra for marble and stone benchtops, and DURAFLEX SPF Neo for travertine and more delicate natural stone.
Every DURAFLEX installer comes from the automotive paint protection film industry. Precision and finish quality are non-negotiable.
Every installation is heat sealed on completion. The bond is permanent.
No solvents, no adhesives, no chemical odour. Kitchen can be used 24 hours later.
DURAFLEX SPF™ Ultra is TPU polyurethane film. Not vinyl. Not a hybrid. Engineered for stone.
CSIRO fire testing to AS/NZS 1530.3. Made with premium materials. Documented, not assumed.
On DURAFLEX ULTRA Satin-X, superficial surface scratches recover when heat is applied, for example from hot water. Independently SGS-validated.
DURAFLEX is Australian-tested. It is fire-tested by the CSIRO to AS/NZS 1530.3 (report FNE13372), achieving the best-possible Early Fire Hazard Indices: Ignitability 0, Spread of Flame 0, Heat Evolved 0, and Smoke Developed 0 to 1. This testing covers fire performance, which matters in a working kitchen and for any architect or builder specification.
The self-healing finish on DURAFLEX ULTRA Satin-X is independently validated by SGS (report SP040463): superficial surface scratches recover when heat is applied, for example from hot water. The film is made from food-safe materials and stays optically clear, so the stone looks like itself, only protected.

DURAFLEX installers are hand-picked. All installers originate from the automotive PPF wrap industry, where precision, finish quality, and attention to detail are non-negotiable. They understand how film behaves, how it should be finished, and what a premium result actually looks like.
That same standard carries across every state we work in.
Whether someone deals with DURAFLEX in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, or anywhere else in our network, the goal is the same: the same experience, the same certified standard, the same commitment to doing the job properly.
It is the largest automotive-trained, accredited installer network in the country, with factory installers in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland and trained teams across multiple states. Every job follows a documented process, including a test patch on installation day, and is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty.
That standard is why leading stone galleries, builders and architects specify DURAFLEX, among them YDL Stone, Marella Stone, Better Living Group, Mazzei Homes, CKA Studio, Marble Hub, World Stone, Ponder Studio and Arte Stone.
Once DURAFLEX is installed, the marble police can retire. There is no resealing schedule and no list of foods to fear. Protected surfaces wipe down like any everyday benchtop, with no harsh chemicals required. Red wine, lemon, oil and coffee meet the film, not the stone, so the marble keeps looking the way it did on the day it was installed.
It is a premium service, properly delivered. A better-designed polyurethane film, backed by Australian testing, installed by hand-picked professionals, with customer service that matches the standard of the product.
