Benchtop Protection

Benchtop Protection That Actually Lasts

Real benchtop protection is not a chopping board, a heat pad or another coat of sealer. It is DURAFLEX, the permanent, self-healing surface protection film for marble, granite, engineered stone and timber, fitted by trained teams across five states.

The problem with mats, pads and resealing

Most benchtop protection is a patchwork of temporary fixes: a board here, a heat pad there, a coat of sealer every year. None of them protect the whole surface, and none of them are permanent. Sealer slows staining but wears off and cannot stop etching or scratches; mats and pads only cover the spot you remember to use.

What DURAFLEX benchtop protection is

DURAFLEX Surface Protection Film is a permanent, optically clear film applied over the whole benchtop by automotive-trained installers. It is heat-sealed to the surface, optically clear so it is virtually invisible, and the ULTRA Satin-X finish is SGS-validated for heat-activated self-healing of superficial scratches. It is CSIRO fire-tested to AS/NZS 1530.3, made from food-safe materials, and backed by a warranty of up to 10 years. DURAFLEX is the Australian originator of the surface protection film category.

What it protects

  • Marble and natural stone, against the etching and staining a sealer cannot stop.
  • Engineered stone such as Caesarstone, against scratching, dulling and heat, see our engineered stone guide.
  • Granite and quartzite, keeping the polish flawless.
  • Timber and 2Pac, against moisture, marks and wear.

What benchtop protection costs

Film is priced per job as a one-time cost, unlike a sealer you redo every year. Use the estimate tool above for an itemised figure. There is nothing to pay to find out. See also marble benchtop protection and stone protection.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to protect a benchtop?

The most complete way is a surface protection film applied over the stone or timber. Mats, boards and heat pads only cover part of the surface, and sealing slows staining but cannot stop etching, scratching or heat. DURAFLEX film is a permanent, self-healing layer that takes the daily wear instead of the benchtop.

Does benchtop protection film work on all surfaces?

DURAFLEX protects marble, granite, engineered stone, timber and 2Pac. Ultra-hard non-porous surfaces like porcelain, Dekton and Neolith already resist wear and do not need it, and we will tell you so.

Is protection film better than resealing?

They do different jobs. A sealer soaks in to slow staining and must be redone every 6 to 24 months. A film sits on top and physically stops etching, scratching and heat, as a one-time job backed by an up-to-10-year warranty. Complete protection is a sealer plus DURAFLEX film.

How much does benchtop protection cost?

It is priced per job by surface size and layout, as a one-time cost rather than a recurring sealer. Request an itemised estimate through the tool on this page, usually returned the same day.
