Caesarstone Benchtop Care and Protection Guide

Quick answerCaesarstone and other engineered stone benchtops are easy to keep clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and no sealing, but they still scratch, dull and mark under heat. Protecting the surface with DURAFLEX film takes that daily wear instead of the stone, so the benchtop keeps looking new.

Caesarstone is one of the most common benchtops in Australian kitchens, and it is refreshingly low-maintenance, until a hot pan or a dropped knife leaves a mark that will not clean off. This guide covers the everyday care that keeps Caesarstone looking its best, the two things it is more sensitive to than most owners realise, and how to protect it for the long term.

Just 4 quick questions and the DURAFLEX team texts back an itemised, no-obligation estimate, usually same day.

Everyday Caesarstone cleaning

For daily cleaning, warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner or mild dish soap is all you need. Wipe spills promptly, especially anything coloured, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, and harsh alkaline or acidic cleaners: they can dull the polish over time. For stubborn marks, a non-abrasive surface cleaner and a soft cloth usually lifts them. Caesarstone does not need sealing, the resin makes it effectively non-porous.

Heat and scratches: the two real limits

Caesarstone is tougher than marble, but it is not heatproof or scratchproof. A pan taken straight from the stovetop or oven can leave a permanent scorch mark or thermal crack, so always use a trivet. Knives, ceramics and grit can scratch the surface, so use a chopping board. These are the marks that cleaning cannot fix, because they are damage to the surface itself, not stains sitting on top.

Protecting Caesarstone for the long term

Because engineered stone can no longer be replaced like-for-like in Australia, keeping the surface you own in good condition is worth doing properly. DURAFLEX surface protection film is applied over the benchtop and takes the daily scratching, dulling and surface heat marks instead of the stone. It is optically clear, made from food-safe materials, CSIRO fire-tested to AS/NZS 1530.3, heat-sealed to the stone at installation, and the ULTRA Satin-X finish adds SGS-validated heat-activated self-healing for superficial scratches. See our broader engineered stone protection guide for the post-ban context.

What film will and will not do

DURAFLEX prevents new wear; it does not repair an existing chip or scorch, although it can be applied over lightly marked stone once prepared. Think of it as removing the daily anxiety about the one surface you use most and can no longer swap out. Stop policing the kitchen. Request an instant estimate to protect your Caesarstone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I clean a Caesarstone benchtop?

Use warm water with a pH-neutral cleaner or mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Wipe spills promptly and avoid abrasive pads, bleach and harsh acidic or alkaline cleaners, which can dull the polish. Caesarstone does not need sealing.

Can you put hot pans on Caesarstone?

No. Engineered stone is sensitive to heat and a pan straight from the stovetop or oven can leave a permanent scorch mark or thermal crack. Always use a trivet or heat pad.

Does Caesarstone scratch?

Yes. It is harder than marble but not scratchproof; knives, ceramics and grit can mark the surface, so use a chopping board. A protection film takes those scratches instead of the stone.

Can DURAFLEX film go on Caesarstone?

Yes. Engineered stone such as Caesarstone is a core surface DURAFLEX protects. The optically clear film is applied over the benchtop and stops everyday scratching, dulling and surface heat marks reaching the stone, backed by a warranty of up to 10 years.
