Ten years is a long time. In marble protection film, a 10-year warranty is the standard claim. Almost every product in the category uses it. Which means the warranty statement itself tells you almost nothing. What matters is what the warranty actually covers, who backs it, and what it takes to make a claim.
What a warranty should cover
A comprehensive marble protection film warranty should cover the three failure modes that actually occur in the field.
Yellowing. Over time, inferior film chemistry degrades under UV exposure and turns yellow. This changes the appearance of the stone underneath and is the most visible form of film failure. A warranty against yellowing is only meaningful if the film chemistry is UV-stable enough to back it. DURAFLEX SPF Ultra uses polyurethane chemistry with UV stabilisers that prevent this degradation.
Lifting. Film that has not been heat-sealed will eventually lift at the edges, particularly around sinks, taps, and high-use areas. A warranty against lifting means nothing if the installation method that causes lifting is standard practice for that product. The warranty and the installation method are inseparable.

Bubbling. Bubbles form when the adhesive bond between film and stone breaks down beneath the surface. This is a product quality and installation issue. A warranty against bubbling requires both a quality adhesive system and a correct installation process.
Who backs the warranty

A warranty issued by an installer is different to a warranty issued by the manufacturer. If the installer stops operating, the warranty stops existing. A manufacturer warranty survives changes in the installer network.
A warranty issued by an overseas company is subject to different enforceability than a warranty issued by an Australian entity. Warranty claims against overseas companies require international processes that most homeowners will not pursue.
Ask any marble protection film provider: who specifically backs the warranty? Is it the installer, the local distributor, or the manufacturer? Is the warranting entity registered in Australia?
What voids the warranty
Every warranty has exclusions. The relevant question is whether the exclusions are reasonable and disclosed upfront. Common exclusions that can eliminate coverage include: improper cleaning products, physical damage, failure to reseal (relevant for non-film products), and installation by non-accredited installers.
For a film product specifically, the installation exclusion is the one most likely to affect claims. If the warranty requires installation by an accredited installer but the product is sold through channels that allow non-accredited installation, the warranty exclusion can be applied broadly.
The DURAFLEX warranty

DURAFLEX provides a 10-year warranty against yellowing, lifting, and bubbling under normal residential conditions. The warranty is backed by DURAFLEX as the Australian manufacturer, not the installer. It covers the film product and the installation when completed by an accredited DURAFLEX installer using the standard heat-sealed process.
The warranty terms are available before you commit. Ask for them. Compare them against the warranty terms of any other product you are considering. A warranty comparison is one of the fastest ways to understand the confidence level of each company in their own product.
The question that ends the comparison
Ask any marble protection film company: can you send me the full warranty terms in writing, before I commit?
The speed and completeness of the response tells you more than the number of years on the label.
