Sealing vs protection film: what each one does
A sealer slows how fast liquids absorb into the stone and needs reapplying over time, but it offers no defence against acid etching. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier bonded to the surface: it stops both staining and etching, needs zero maintenance, and is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty. Heat sealing and the up-to-10-year warranty
After the film is applied it is heat sealed to the surface. This activates the adhesive, closes the edges and removes the micro-lifting points that cause bubbling over time. The up-to-10-year warranty covers bubbling, lifting and yellowing, and every Medindie job is completed to the same standard.

Nothing changes visually. The film is optically clear and follows the stone exactly, so the colour, veining and gloss of your Medindie benchtop remain on full show.
Does the film require any upkeep?
No. It is a one-time installation with zero maintenance afterwards, unlike a sealer that needs periodic reapplication. There is nothing to reseal or redo.
Will it really stop etching on a delicate pale marble?
Yes. Because acids meet the film and never the stone, even a soft, pale marble is protected from the dull etch marks that citrus and wine would otherwise leave.
How long does the work take?
A Medindie kitchen is usually finished within a few hours in a single visit, with no curing period, so it is ready to use the same day.

Will I be able to see or feel it?
No. It’s optically clear and ultra-thin, so the stone looks exactly the same. Customers love the satin feel of our ULTRA Satin-X film (if that’s what you’re into).
Does it actually stop stains and etching?
DURAFLEX is completely non porous, meaning spills don’t stand a chance. Wine, coffee, oil and citrus wipe away completely, protecting the stone from etching and staining.
How long does installation take?
