Sealing vs protection film: what each one does
A sealer slows how fast liquids absorb into the stone and needs reapplying over time, but it offers no defence against acid etching. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier bonded to the surface: it stops both staining and etching, needs zero maintenance, and is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty. Will DURAFLEX change how my New Farm marble island looks?
No. The film is optically clear and follows the surface, so a honed Carrara or Calacatta island keeps its natural depth and feel. Most people cannot tell it is there until they spill something and nothing happens.
We entertain often. Can the bench be used the same day?
Yes. Installation is a single visit of a few hours with no curing period, so your kitchen is back in use that same evening. There is no maintenance routine afterwards either.
Does it actually stop etching, or just staining?
Both. A penetrating sealer can slow staining but cannot stop acids etching the stone. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier, so wine, citrus and cleaning products contact the film rather than the marble.
Is it suitable for engineered stone as well as marble?
Yes. We apply DURAFLEX over marble, quartzite, granite, travertine, limestone, dolomite and engineered stone. Many New Farm renovations mix materials, and the film protects them all the same way.
What does the warranty cover?

Will I be able to see or feel it?
No. It’s optically clear and ultra-thin, so the stone looks exactly the same. Customers love the satin feel of our ULTRA Satin-X film (if that’s what you’re into).
Does it actually stop stains and etching?
DURAFLEX is completely non porous, meaning spills don’t stand a chance. Wine, coffee, oil and citrus wipe away completely, protecting the stone from etching and staining.
How long does installation take?
