A sealer slows how fast liquids absorb into the stone and needs reapplying over time, but it offers no defence against acid etching. Noosa marble protection: common questions
Will DURAFLEX change how my Noosa marble looks?
No. The film is optically clear and follows the contour of the stone, so the colour, veining and finish read exactly as before. Most people cannot tell it is there until a spill simply wipes away.
My place is a holiday rental, is this worth it?
It is one of the strongest cases for the film. Guests are far less careful than owners, and etching from acidic drinks and food adds up fast. DURAFLEX takes the risk out of every booking so you are not inspecting the benchtop after each changeover.
Does it stop etching as well as staining?
Yes, both. Acidic spills like wine, citrus and vinegar contact the film rather than the calcium carbonate in the stone, so the etch never starts. Staining is blocked the same way, because nothing penetrates to the surface beneath.
How long will the installation keep my kitchen out of action?
Only a few hours, and there is no curing period. The kitchen is usable the same day, which suits owners trying to fit the job around guests or their own stay on the coast.

Will I be able to see or feel it?
No. It’s optically clear and ultra-thin, so the stone looks exactly the same. Customers love the satin feel of our ULTRA Satin-X film (if that’s what you’re into).
Does it actually stop stains and etching?
DURAFLEX is completely non porous, meaning spills don’t stand a chance. Wine, coffee, oil and citrus wipe away completely, protecting the stone from etching and staining.
