Location: Hawthorn, Melbourne Protection: DURAFLEX Surface Protection Film
Hawthorn sits in Melbourne’s inner east, where period streets conceal thoroughly modern kitchens. This project centred on a monolithic stone island: warm cream and beige natural stone with sweeping taupe and caramel veining, thick mitred edges and full-height waterfall end panels, set against light oak joinery. Surfaces like these are the heart of the home and the first casualty of daily life, where citrus, wine and hot cookware all attack polished stone.
The DURAFLEX team applied optically clear surface protection film across the island benchtop, waterfall panels and benchtop returns. The film disappears into the stone’s finish while shielding it from etching, staining and daily wear, with heat-activated self-healing keeping the surface looking new. Fire tested by CSIRO to AS/NZS 1530.3 and backed by warranties of up to 10 years, it is the invisible difference between a kitchen that ages and one that stays flawless.
