Box Hill has changed faster than almost anywhere in Melbourne’s east, with towers, townhouses and rebuilt family homes all going up around the centre. Those new kitchens are full of engineered stone and natural marble, and a single acidic spill can leave a dull etch the day after handover.

What are we protecting?
A sealer slows how fast liquids absorb into the stone and needs reapplying over time, but it offers no defence against acid etching. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier bonded to the surface: it stops both staining and etching, needs zero maintenance, and is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty. The two work together, the seal prepares the stone and the film protects it.

DURAFLEX is an invisible, self-healing polyurethane film that sits over marble, quartzite, granite and engineered stone. Spills and acids hit the film rather than the surface, which is how it stops etching and staining that a sealer alone never could.
DURAFLEX in action
Real installation: the DURAFLEX Glen Iris project.
A lot of Box Hill cooking is daily and serious, with citrus, vinegar and sauces in constant use across multi-generational households. That is precisely the environment where unprotected marble suffers, because the etching builds up around the cooktop and sink long before anyone thinks to reach for a coaster.
We work across Box Hill and neighbouring suburbs like Blackburn, Mont Albert and Surrey Hills, installing film that is heat-sealed at every edge and effectively invisible. Marble Anxiety, it’s real, and for busy kitchens that never slow down, removing that anxiety is the whole point.
Film application is a precision job that rewards a steady hand and patience with edges. That background exists in automotive paint protection film installation, not stone restoration. Every DURAFLEX installer comes from the automotive film industry, and the technique transfers directly to stone: tension management, edge trimming and heat sealing.
After the film is applied it is heat sealed to the surface. This activates the adhesive, closes the edges and removes the micro-lifting points that cause bubbling over time. The up-to-10-year warranty covers bubbling, lifting and yellowing, and every Box Hill job is completed to the same standard.
DURAFLEX services Box Hill and the wider Melbourne area. Installation is completed in a single visit with no curing period and no downtime, so the kitchen is back in normal use the same day, and every Box Hill estimate is no-obligation.
Does DURAFLEX work on engineered stone, not just marble?
Yes. The film is applied over engineered stone, quartzite, granite and natural marble alike. Even reconstituted surfaces can dull or mark over years of heavy use, and the film protects all of them the same way.
Our Box Hill kitchen is brand new, is it worth protecting now?
A new bench is the ideal time, because the film goes on over a flawless surface and keeps it that way. Protecting early means you never have to repair an etch you could have prevented.
Will heavy daily cooking wear the film out?
The surface is self-healing, so light scuffs and fine scratches disappear on their own. It is built for kitchens in constant use and is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty.
Can you install in an apartment with building access rules?
Yes. Installation is a clean, single-visit job of a few hours with no mess or curing time, which suits apartment buildings and their access windows. Just let us know any booking requirements when you arrange a time.
Who actually does the installation?
Our installers are trained in automotive paint protection film technique, not general stonemasonry. That skill set is what allows the film to be wrapped and heat-sealed so cleanly that you cannot see it.

FAQ
Will I be able to see or feel it?
No. It’s optically clear and ultra-thin, so the stone looks exactly the same. Customers love the satin feel of our ULTRA Satin-X film (if that’s what you’re into).
Does it actually stop stains and etching?
DURAFLEX is completely non porous, meaning spills don’t stand a chance. Wine, coffee, oil and citrus wipe away completely, protecting the stone from etching and staining.
How long does installation take?
Most kitchens are completed in a single day, approximately 2 hours per surface.
