Complete marble benchtop protection is two layers: a penetrating sealer to slow stains, and DURAFLEX surface protection film to stop the etching, scratching and heat damage a sealer cannot. Sealing alone is not enough, etching is physical damage, not a stain, so no sealer can undo it.
Installations and counting
A new marble benchtop is the centrepiece of the kitchen, and it is also the most vulnerable surface in it. Marble is beautiful and fragile. Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario and dolomite all etch and stain the first time an acidic spill is left to sit, and on a benchtop that cost what marble costs, that first mark stings.
DURAFLEX protects a new marble benchtop from day one. It is an invisible, self-healing polyurethane film applied directly over the polished stone, so wine, citrus, coffee and oil wipe straight off and never reach the marble. Protect it before the first spill and it stays exactly as it looked on installation day.

What are we protecting?

A penetrating sealer fills the microscopic pores in the stone, so a spill has a few extra minutes before it soaks in and stains. That is worth doing. But a sealer works inside the marble and does nothing on top of it, and etching is a surface reaction: wine, citrus, coffee and cleaning products chemically burn the polish, leaving dull marks. Etching is physical damage, not a stain, you cannot wipe it away and no sealer stops it. That is the gap DURAFLEX closes.
DURAFLEX surface protection film is an optically clear polyurethane layer heat-sealed over the polished stone by automotive-trained installers. It is the physical barrier a sealer is not:
Seal the stone to slow absorption, then add the film to stop the etching, scratching and heat a sealer cannot. Together they are complete marble benchtop protection. For the detail, read our stone sealer guide and our complete marble benchtop guide.
Every benchtop is a different size, shape and edge profile, so DURAFLEX prices each job individually from your measurements. Take the 20-second quiz and the team texts back an itemised estimate, usually the same day. Click here for an instant estimate.
DURAFLEX is stone benchtop protection for marble, engineered stone and natural stone. As a stone benchtop protector it forms an invisible physical barrier over the surface, stopping the etching and staining a sealer leaves behind. Done properly, stone benchtop protection is a film, not a coating.
DURAFLEX suits the polished white marbles and soft dolomites homeowners choose for a statement benchtop, as well as engineered stone and Caesarstone. It is best applied to new, un-etched stone so the surface is locked in at its best. The film is optically clear and absorbs only around five percent of visible light, so the veining and depth you paid for stay fully visible.
A sealer slows absorption but does nothing against the acid etching that dulls a polished surface. DURAFLEX is a physical barrier, heat-sealed by automotive-trained installers, CSIRO fire-tested to AS/NZS 1530.3, and backed by an up-to-10-year warranty. It is the difference between a benchtop you guard nervously and one you simply use.
When should I protect a new marble benchtop?
Ideally as soon as it is installed and sealed, before the kitchen goes into daily use. Protecting pristine stone avoids the early etching that so often happens in the first weeks.
Will the film change how my Calacatta looks?
No. DURAFLEX is optically clear and absorbs only about five percent of visible light, so the veining, polish and depth stay fully visible. At normal viewing distances it is undetectable.
Does it work on engineered stone and Caesarstone too?
Yes. DURAFLEX protects marble, engineered stone, Caesarstone, porcelain, granite, travertine and limestone.

FAQ
Is sealing enough to protect a marble benchtop?
No. A sealer slows staining by filling the stone's pores, but it does nothing against etching, the dull marks acids leave when they burn the polish. Etching is physical damage, not a stain. Complete protection needs a sealer plus a surface film like DURAFLEX.
Does protection film for marble countertops actually work?
Yes. DURAFLEX is an optically clear polyurethane film heat-sealed over the stone. It is non porous, so wine, citrus, coffee and oil wipe straight off and never reach the marble, and it is heat-activated self-healing, CSIRO fire-tested and rated to 232 degrees. It is fitted across five states by trained installers.
Will the film change how my marble looks?
No. DURAFLEX absorbs only about five percent of visible light, so the veining, polish and depth of Carrara, Calacatta and Statuario stay fully visible. At normal viewing distances it is undetectable.
When should I protect a new marble benchtop?
Ideally as soon as it is installed and sealed, before daily use begins. Protecting pristine stone avoids the early etching that so often happens in the first weeks.
Is DURAFLEX safe for kitchen benchtops?
Yes. The film is made from food-safe materials and applied without harsh chemicals, and it is backed by an up-to-10-year warranty.
