Why sealing a marble benchtop is not enough

A penetrating sealer fills the microscopic pores in the stone, so a spill has a few extra minutes before it soaks in and stains. That is worth doing. But a sealer works inside the marble and does nothing on top of it, and etching is a surface reaction: wine, citrus, coffee and cleaning products chemically burn the polish, leaving dull marks. Etching is physical damage, not a stain, you cannot wipe it away and no sealer stops it. That is the gap DURAFLEX closes.

The film layer: what DURAFLEX adds

DURAFLEX surface protection film is an optically clear polyurethane layer heat-sealed over the polished stone by automotive-trained installers. It is the physical barrier a sealer is not:

Frequently asked questions

When should I protect a new marble benchtop?

Ideally as soon as it is installed and sealed, before the kitchen goes into daily use. Protecting pristine stone avoids the early etching that so often happens in the first weeks.

Will the film change how my Calacatta looks?

No. DURAFLEX is optically clear and absorbs only about five percent of visible light, so the veining, polish and depth stay fully visible. At normal viewing distances it is undetectable.

Does it work on engineered stone and Caesarstone too?

Yes. DURAFLEX protects marble, engineered stone, Caesarstone, porcelain, granite, travertine and limestone.
