What are we protecting?
DURAFLEX is the originator of marble surface protection film in Australia, and installs an optically clear physical barrier over Sydney marble benchtops and vanities that stops acid etching, staining and scratching, at $450 + GST per lineal metre.
DURAFLEX marble protection film is $450 + GST per lineal metre, installed by factory-trained technicians. The roll is 1500mm wide, so one lineal metre covers up to 1.5 square metres in a single seamless piece.
DURAFLEX installs marble protection across the greater Sydney region, covering suburbs from the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs to the Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches, from our NSW factory.
Penetrating sealers slow staining but do not stop acid etching from lemon juice, wine or vinegar. DURAFLEX film is a physical barrier, so the acid never touches the stone and etching cannot occur under the film.
Leave a drop of lemon juice on unprotected polished marble for 60 seconds and the dull etch mark is permanent. On marble fitted with DURAFLEX film, wipe it away and the surface is untouched. Etching is a chemical reaction with the calcium carbonate in the stone, not a stain sitting on top, which is why it happens whether or not the marble has been sealed.
DURAFLEX marble protection film is optically clear, so a Sydney marble benchtop still reads as the stone that was chosen.
DURAFLEX film rejects 97.5 per cent of UV, manufacturer batch-tested, which matters in harbour-facing kitchens with hours of direct sun.
DURAFLEX film is an engineered sheet around 150 microns thick, heat-sealed to the stone rather than painted on as a coating.
DURAFLEX ULTRA Satin-X is fire-tested by CSIRO to AS/NZS 1530.3 under report FNE13372, which covers fire performance only.
DURAFLEX installations carry a written warranty of up to 10 years, depending on the product and the application.
DURAFLEX film is made from food-safe materials, so it belongs on the surface where a Sydney household prepares meals.

| Stops acid etching | No | No | Yes, acid never reaches the marble |
| Stops scratching | No | Partly, until the coating wears through | Yes, and superficial marks in the film recover with heat on ULTRA Satin-X |
| Reapplication cycle | Every 6 to 24 months | Recoat as it wears | None; the film is replaced at end of warranty |
| Warranty, as published | Product-dependent, check what the provider publishes | Product-dependent, check what the provider publishes | Up to 10 years, written |

The comparison is between product categories, not brands. Whichever provider you speak to, ask for the written warranty terms and who backs them.
DURAFLEX film is professionally installed and replaced at end of warranty; it is not a DIY product. It is protection rather than repair: the film disguises light existing etching and water marks once the surface is prepared, but it does not reverse deep stains that have soaked into the stone, and it is not impact armour.
DURAFLEX marble protection is installed across the greater Sydney region. These are the suburbs we are asked about most often.

DURAFLEX marble protection film is $450 + GST per lineal metre, installed. The roll is 1500mm wide, so one lineal metre covers up to 1.5 square metres in a single seamless piece, and you can measure your own benchtop lengths to know the figure before anyone visits. A 6 lineal metre minimum applies, with a $250 + GST callout for smaller projects.
No. Marble sealing slows staining by soaking into the stone, but it cannot stop the acid etching that dulls marble on contact with wine, lemon or vinegar. Etching is a chemical reaction with the stone itself, so it happens whether or not the marble is sealed. Only a physical barrier over the surface prevents it.
Most marble kitchen benchtops need resealing every 6 to 24 months, sooner in a hard-working kitchen. Check with the water-drop test: if a drop of water left on the stone for 10 to 15 minutes darkens it, it is time to reseal. DURAFLEX film removes that cycle, because the film is replaced at end of warranty rather than reapplied.

Sydney kitchens open onto entertaining areas, and the bench takes the citrus, the wine and the coffee all summer. Marble Anxiety™ is the flinch every time a glass lands without a coaster. With DURAFLEX over the stone, the film takes it instead, and you can stop playing the marble police in your own home. Don't worry, it's DURAFLEX.
